3rd Reflection

3rd Reflection—Due May 20 at 10 AM.
3-5 Paragraphs (350-500 words).
Post the assignment on the CUNY Commons site, using the category “3rd Reflection.”

This reflection takes the place of the final exam. You do not need to come to the final exam period, although I will be in the assigned room at the assigned time (NL 106, 8 AM-10 AM) if you prefer to write it there. In that case, you will write your reflection in an exam booklet, rather than post it online.

Unlike your earlier reflections, this is a graded assignment.

Over the course of the semester, we have examined different ways to learn about history and analyzed the processes through which historians make choices, find information, and determine how to present the materials to others. What have discussed how history shapes the world we live in today. Look through your weekly writings, the materials assigned outside of class, the material we read and watched in class, your two earlier reflections, and your notes. Write an essay in which you discuss what you have learned over the course of the semester and how you now define what history is and its significance. Make sure to refer to at least 3 assigned works, beyond the Crash Course videos, to support and help explain your ideas. The essay will be personal, but you should focus on organization and clearly express your opinions.
